Trudie's Tavern

The design of Trudie's Tavern is anchored by an L-shaped dark wood wall that sets the warm, subdued tone of the space. Subtracted from this “feature wall” are two niches: one that houses the back bar and server areas, and another that envelops cozy two-top booths. The feature wall’s wood trim is also used to frame a whimsical mural that is a focal point from the moment you enter the space. Opposite the feature wall, wood wainscoting has been added below existing windows, the returns of which have been painted a deep blue. A new L-shaped banquette and U-shaped bar float within the feature wall’s embrace to partition the space into more intimate and varied dining areas.

Amidst the rich spatial variety is an equally rich material palette composed of red brick, antique brass, pastel tile, velvet upholstery, and patterned metal, in addition to the dark, warm wood throughout. Vintage light fixtures, delicate window treatments, and decorative trinkets work with the space’s lush materiality to create a dining experience that is at once cozy and familiar, yet refined.
